Day 01: TENTENA - KOLONEDALE
After breakfast in the hotel in Tenena we will drive in 6 hours to Kolonedale, the gateway to Taman Morowali a nature reserve. This route is magnificent and located between tropical jungle mountains. We will lunch in on our way and at the end of the afternoon we will arrive in Kolonedale for our dinner and overnight stay.

Day 02: KOLONEDALE - MOROWALI
After our breakfast in the hotel we will leave for our journey over the Tomori bay per Perahu (a traditional outrigger boat) to the start point of the trekking. After about 6 hours trekking and crossing some small rivers we will finally arrive in traditional village of the Wana people. We will lunch and dinner in this traditional village and sleep in a simple hut.

Day 03: MOROWALI
It’s a free day today. You have plenty time to making a walk in this beautiful area, to swim in crystal-clear Morowali river. But you can also learn from the locals how to shoot with a traditional Wana blowpipe. We will stay at the village for overnight.

Day 04: MOROWALI
After the lunch we will say goodbye to the village people and walk with our Wana-guide trough the tropical jungle to the edge of the lake. We will fish on the lake in traditional tree canoes. Our guide will prepare the catch fish for dinner; we will spend this night back to basic in natural bamboo shelter.

Day 05: MOROWALI - KOLONEDALE
After breakfast we will cross lakes by canoe and a fabulous lagoon. After we arrive at the edge of the lake we will make a short walk to the Perahu (a traditional outrigger boat). We will go by this Perahu to Kolonedale and stay here for dinner and overnight.

Day 06: KOLONEDALE - TENTENA
After our breakfast we will drive back trough the magnificent tropical jungle mountains to Tentena for our lunch, dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 07: TENTENA
After our breakfast we will check out and go to our next destination….. End of this Emerald Indonesia program.

 

South Sulawesi the other way

Day 01: MAKASSAR
Upon arrival at Hasanuddin Airport Makassar (UPG) pick up and transfer to your hotel in Makassar. During the day we will have a Makassar city tour. We will visit Fort Rotterdam, Paotere (Traditional Fish Market) and Paoterethe Buginese “Pinisi”schooner harbour, Mr. Bundt’s orchid’s collection (famous Indonesian Orchid garden), Monument Mandala, the Tomb of Sultan Hasanuddin in Gowa and Somba Opu shopping street where you can find the famous Makassar gold. We will lunch at a local restaurant and dinner and overnight stay at our hotel.

Day 02: MAKASSAR – SENGKANG
After breakfast we will go via Malino and Bantimurung to Sengkang. Malino is a hill resort and it has a spectacular waterfall. Bantimurung is a famous place, because it has magnificent limestone’s waterfalls en beautiful exotic butterflies. We will lunch at a local restaurant and at the end of the afternoon we will check in our hotel for our dinner and overnight stay.

Day 03: SENGKANG – TORAJALAND
After our breakfast we will go by long tail boat to Lake Tempe. This is Sulawesi’s largest lake; we will enjoy the beautiful bird wildlife on the lake. We will visit local people in their floating houses on the lake; we will drink a cup of coffee with them and eat some of their specialities. After the lunch we will pick up our luggage’s and drive via Enrekang to cultural district “Tana Toraja”. This trip is great because of the views; we will see green rice fields, emerald green mountains and original villages. We will arrive at the hotel late in the afternoon; here we will enjoy our dinner.

Day 04: TORAJALAND
After breakfast we will have the first Toraja tour. We will visit Batutumonga, Lempo, Deri, Pangala, Sa’dan, Palawa and Pana. Batutumonga is a spectacular mountain in Torajaland; from the top you will have magnificent panorama view of Rantepao and the Sa’dan valley. Sa’dan is a weaving centre in Torajaland, we will find out how the locals making their blankets. We will lunch in a local restaurant. In the end of the afternoon we return to the hotel for our dinner.

Day 05: TORAJALAND
After breakfast we will go to the Sa’dan River for spectacular white rafting. At the end of the drop we will make a 1 hours walk trough the mountains of Tana Toraja. At the edge of the riverbank we will get our lifejacket and a pedal and instruction. We will enjoy our lunch at the riverbank and after the lunch we will go on with white rafting. At the end of the day we will return to the hotel for our dinner and overnight stay.

Day 06: TORAJALAND
After the lunch we will visit: Londa, Ke’te Kesu, Sangalla, Palatokke, La’bo, Lemo, Buntu Pune and Makula. We will enjoy our lunch in a local restaurant.
Ke’te Kesu is a famous traditional village with a huge cave full with coffins, scales and bones. We will find hot springs in Makula and we will visit an orphanage where the children playing bamboo music. In Londa we find Tau Tau’s, this are statues of people who past away. It’s even possible to make one of yourselves. In de Londa’s cave of death we will discover the real Toraja culture with an oil lamp! At the end of the afternoon we will return to our hotel and enjoy our dinner.

Day 07: TORAJALAND
After our breakfast we will go to the local buffalo market, the locals try to sale their buffalo’s and pigs for Toraja funeral ceremonies. After our lunch in a local restaurant we will visit a traditional funeral ceremony in Torajaland. This is a real spectacular event in Toraja. After the funeral we will make a short city tour in Rantepao. At the end of the day we will return for our dinner and overnight stay at the hotel

Day 08: TORAJALAND – MAMASA
After our breakfast we check out and drive to Mamasa. This is the only village in the Mamasa Valley. Mamasa is a cool mountain resort which is not that discovered as Torajaland. At the end of the day we will check in our accommodation for dinner, overnight and prepare us for next three days.

Day 09: MAMASA VALLEY
After our breakfast we will start with our trekking trough the valley. The total trek for this day will take about 22 km and it takes about 8 hours. The walk is uphill and easy, sometimes we have some sharply hills and it take some more concentration. We will past villages like: Rante Buda, Pa’Kassasan, Lombonan, Tadokalua and Timbaan. We will arrive at our accommodation at the end the afternoon. We will enjoy our dinner and overnight stay here.

Day 10: MAMASA VALLEY
After our breakfast we will start with the second trekking day. Today we will walk trough emerald green rice fields and cross rivers. We also meeting local people while we past at their traditional villages. Today we will past villages like: Mawai, Tabang, Ponding and Paku. At the end of the day we will arrive at our accommodation for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 11: MAMASA VALLEY – MAKALE
After our breakfast we start with the final day of the trekking. We walk in three hours trough rice fields and mountains to the edge of the valley. The last trekking day we will walk to Bittuang, we will get a transfer to Makale from this place. We will check in our accommodation at the end of the afternoon and here our dinner and overnight stay.

Day 12: MAKALE – PANTAI BIRA
After breakfast we will start with a long trip to the south. We will have our lunch in Watampone (Bone) and after the lunch we will go straight to Bira Beach. The road is great, in the middle of rice fields, quite places. We will check in our accommodation near the beach at the end of the afternoon. Here we will enjoy our dinner and stay for overnight.

Day 13: PANTAI BIRA
After breakfast we will visit the traditional shipbuilding at Tanah Beru or Marumasa. The local’s boat builders use old traditional techniques to craft traditional ships. We also try to observer Frisky monkeys at a cave, but only when we will not disturb them. We will lunch at our accommodation and after the lunch we have a free program.
You can enjoy the great white sand beach near your hotel with a crystal-clear sea. We will dinner at the accommodation.

Day 14: PANTAI BIRA
After breakfast a free day, but it’s possible to book a snorkelling or diving program with own boat and instructor at Pulau Seleayer, Marumasa, Pulau Beteng or Pelau Lihhukan. If we are lucky we can see the dolphins swimming near us.
We will lunch and dinner at the accommodation.

Day 15: PANTAI BIRA – MAKASSAR
After breakfast we will get a transfer to the airport of Makassar, for your next destination.

Day 01: MAKASSAR - TORAJALAND
In the morning you will fly from Makassar to Tana Toraja. We will pick you up at the Rantetayo airport and bring your luggages to the hotel. We will visit Batutumonga, Lempo, Deri, Pangala, Sa’dan and Palawa. Batutumonga is a spectacular mountain in Torajaland; from the top you will have magnificent panorama view of Rantepao and the Sa’dan valley. Sa’dan is a weaving centre in Torajaland, we will find out how the locals making their blankets. We will lunch in a local restaurant. Early at the evening we return to the hotel for our dinner.

Day 02: TORAJALAND
After breakfast we will go to the Sa’dan River for spectacular white rafting. At the end of the drop we will make a 1 hours walk trough the mountains of Tana Toraja. At the edge of the riverbank we will get our lifejacket and a pedal and instruction. We will enjoy our lunch at the riverbank and after the lunch we will go on with white rafting. At the end of the day we will return to the hotel, you can book live traditional bamboo music. This is from a group orphans from a local orphanage in Torajaland, so you will support them extra. We will overnight at the hotel.

Day 03: TORAJALAND
After the lunch we will visit: Londa, Ke’te Kesu, Sangalla, Palatokke, La’bo, Lemo, Buntu Pune and Makula. Later we will visit a traditional funeral ceremony in Torajaland. This is a real spectacular event in Toraja. At the end of the day we will return for our dinner and overnight stay at the hotel

Day 04: TORAJALAND - MAKASSAR
After breakfast we will check out and bring you to the airport of Rantetayo in Tana Toraja and you will fly to your next destination. End of this Emerald Indonesian tour program.
